In Greece the pomegranate is considered the fruit of life and good fortune. There is a custom New Year's Eve, "the breaking of pomegranate". Each family breaks a pomegranate with power at the entrance of the house. At the same time says: "With health, happiness and joy in the new year. We wish to have so pounds, as the berries of pomegranate and happy, joyful days as beautiful and strong are the berries".
